Summer Camp at High Hopes
Join us this summer at High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Inc. for a youth equestrian program for children ages 3 to 12 on our beautiful 125-acre campus in Old Lyme, CT. During the school year High Hopes provides therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities for people with cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities. In July we offer equine-related educational opportunities for all children in the surrounding communities in a summer camp program utilizing our herd of 27 horses and ponies. Each session is designed to meet the needs of a group of participants by age and/or riding skill level, and offers diverse equine-based activities conducted by a certified therapeutic riding instructor.
Campers are provided opportunities to build and/or develop horsemanship skills both on and off the horse. Campers will groom and tack their horse each morning in addition to a daily riding lesson. Other activities include vaulting, carriage driving, inclusive team building games and equine arts and crafts.
There will be four weekly sessions between June 29 and July 23. Each session, which is limited to 16 participants, will be Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
