LOLHS Seniors Receive Chamber Business Leadership Awards

Lyme-Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce Recognizes

Two Graduating Seniors with Business Leadership Awards

Jared Stanland and Alex Clippinger are the 2015 recipients of the Lyme/Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce Business Leadership Award. They received the awards at Lyme-Old Lyme High School’s Senior Awards presentation earlier this month.

The Business Leadership Award was initiated last year to support a graduating senior from Lyme/Old Lyme High School who plans to pursue a degree in business. The 2014 recipient was Jeffrey Davis, currently attending New England College of Business and Finance.

The Lyme-Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce inaugurated the new scholarship at a fundraiser called Paving the Way to a Brighter Future. Over $1,800 was raised at the event, which took place at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts.  The Lyme-Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce thanks local businesses who contributed to this new initiative, including Benchmark Wealth Management, which made a significant contribution to the new scholarship fund.

Rosemary Barclay of Bonne Santé Wellness Center is a member and former chair of the Chamber scholarship committee who proposed the new scholarship because, as a business owner, she felt strongly about supporting education in her local community. Barclay hoped the scholarship would offer local students the opportunity to achieve success in the business environment.  She calls the Business Leadership Award “another example of our community and chamber working together for a common cause.”

The Chamber has distributed over $30,000 to local students through its scholarship programs since 1999. Applications for the Business Leadership Award are available through the LOLHS Guidance Department. Local businesses or individuals wishing to support the Business Leadership Scholarship Fund can contact the Chamber at email@lolcc.com.
